Dean, who makes his living as a jeweller, has a nickname which makes the mind boggle “Tripod”.
Dean has played for East Leeds all his cricketing life, through the under 15’s, 16’s,17’s, 3rd, 2nd and the 1st XI. He started in the Junior teams in 1994, second team 1995 and the first team a year later.
A right handed batsman, he likes to bat at number 6, and can boast a highest score of 154 not out against Gildersome in 2009.
Although Dean has established himself this season as first team wicketkeeper, he has in the past turned his hand to bowling, claiming he was a right arm medium swing bowler, with best figures of 7 for 13 against Hopton Mills.
Allan Olbison and James Watling are his favourite players and his preferred position is either keeping wicket or sitting on the decking with a cold beer.
His best moment at East Leeds is being voted Player of the Year in 1999.
