Since he came to East Leeds he has always been known as “Bobby”
A relative newcomer to the Club he has represented both first and second teams, with a top score in the first’s of 123 against Crossbank last season. He is a right hand bat who likes to demonstrate his big hitting, although he has been known at times to be patient in his approach. He likes to bat in the top order.
A right hand spin bowler, he often takes a wicket in his first over or two. Hunslet Nelson were the opponents when he returned his best bowling figures of 5 for 34. This was in the second team.
Close and distant are his favourite fielding positions at slip or long off and long on.
For a favourite player he names the great Imran Khan.
Bobby had one of his best moments for the club when fasting, when he hit a quick 94 against Gildersome. He was surprised he had so much energy with not eating and drinking anything. Another good memory is playing against Great Preston when Dan Lawrence hit a smashing 100 and the team chased down 250.
The first team that Bobby played for was at youth level for Leigh on Sea in Essex.
On the hottest day of the year (about 35C) he opened the batting in senior cricket with the team legend who he says was about 70. Bobby managed to get 89 in a partnership of 170. That was his first 50 in senior cricket.
